I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 7th instant.
In reply, I would point out that the original statement of His Majesty's Consul that Yeap Sang Koon was not a British subject is in complete variance with that now made in your letter under reply, namely that he is a British subject.
Such contrary statements seem to indicate a want of bona fides, and I regret that I am unable to accept your claim in regard to Yeap Sang Koon's nationality.
